Ice skating

Winter is of course all about one thing: ice skating!

This is possible at Lacustris at all levels and at least twice a week. The training groups are nice and small and each have their own trainer, so that everyone can receive personal attention from the trainer and a nice group feeling is built up.

The competition secretary, Technical Committee and trainers discuss every year who will perform best in which training group. There are four different groups in total: the A-. B-, C- and D- group (from beginner to advanced).

For beginners, the goal of the training is mainly on learning skating technique using all kinds of exercises. For advanced skaters, the training is aimed at improving fitness, speed and technique. Training is fairly non-binding, but it is expected that if you are unable to attend, you will send a cancellation notice to your trainer.

Core-stability training

Just like in the summer, core stability is worked on in the winter. You really need your core while ice skating so that you don’t wander across the ice. Since your legs already have enough to do on the ice, these workouts will aim more on abdominal and back muscles. But fear not, you will also come home tired from these workouts!
